Balika Samriddhi Yojana 2024, Eligibility, Apply Online Balika Samriddhi Yojana (BSY) was launched by the Central Government in the year 1997. It was done under the Women and Child Development blueprint to enable empowerment of girl child in the country. It is known as a major initiative to support the education and birth of girl child. Balika Samriddhi Yojana will provide coverage to all girl child born on or after 15th August 1997, who are unfortunately below the poverty line (BPL) as defined by the Government of India in urban and rural areas.
The scheme of Balika Samriddhi Yojana was launched on 2nd October 1997 with the objective of enhancing the overall status of girl child and bringing a positive change in the attitude of the family and the community. This scheme covers two girl child born on or after 15th August 1997 in a family living below the poverty line as defined by the Government of India. The mother giving birth to a girl child from BPL families is given a one-time grant of Rs.500/- under BMS. Till date the number of beneficiaries is 12357 girls.

Eligibility For Balika Samriddhi Yojana 2024
- For those living in rural areas, the target group will be the families identified under the BPL category based on the Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana.
- For those living in urban areas, families living in urban slums, irrespective of their identity, will be covered under BSY.
- Families engaged in vegetable and fruit vendors, ragpickers, payment vendors and other jobs will get coverage.
- Surveys are conducted to check BPL and lists are prepared under TPDS (Targeted Public Distribution System).
- Girl children born on or after 15th August 1997, who belong to BPL families, will be benefited.
- All the benefits are given to two girl children from each family, irrespective of the number of children in the family.

The Balika Samriddhi Yojana Scheme offers the following benefits:

- Birth certificate of girl child issued by the hospital where she was born or issued by the Government itself.
- Address proof of legal guardian or parents:- This includes any of the IDs from driving license, passport, telephone or electricity bill, ration card, voter ID card, or any other proof from the Government of India.
- Identity proof of legal guardian or parents:- These include PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID Card, Matriculation Certificate, or any other Government of India certificate for validation of the girl child’s identity.
